Since Chu Xun already made it so clear, Lin Yanchen didn’t do anything ill-bred.

He couldn’t calm himself down no matter how long he tried, only able to cool down a bit and at least not do anything irrational on impulse that could hurt Chu Xun. Though, his head was still in a mess.

“I’ll sleep in another room tonight,” Lin Yanchen announced with his eyes red.

Chu Xun: “…” He didn’t know what to say. It was a fact that they couldn’t sleep together in such a situation. Being together for close to a month, this was the only time they slept in different beds.

He couldn’t bear to look at Lin Yanchen’s face – like a puppy who is still loyal to the owner who abandoned him and begging its owner to change his mind. He truly believes that despite all those harsh words he said, Lin Yanchen will immediately forgive him the moment he gives in even by a tiny bit. Lin Yanchen is just such a good guy.

Chu Xun didn’t know what to say. He thought for a bit and suggested, “I can give you a sleeping pill?”

He probably had to eat one at night anyway. The doctor prescribed him the pills for a few days, so he brought them along with the painkillers. He thought they wouldn’t be used since his sleep was good the past few nights, but it turned out that they were still required in the end.

Being shouted at by Lin Yanchen, Chu Xun was dumbfounded.

Chu Xun was determined to leave, but Lin Yanchen didn’t want to leave the older with any bad memories of him. Chu Xun is right. At least Chu Xun’s memories of him would be good when the older looks back at their time together.

“I know that Xiao Lin is very good. You’re a very very good person.” Chu Xun said in a gentle and soft tone.

Not at all comforting, Chu Xun’s words only made Lin Yanchen feel more miserable. “You don’t like me even if I’m this good.”

“Ah Xun, when you go to bed tonight, remember to lock the door and hide your passport. I’m afraid that I won’t be able to hold myself back from stealing it while you’re sleeping to stop you from leaving.” Lin Yanchen dumbly advised, sounding down.

Chu Xun was dumbfounded, standing still and unsure how he should react. “…”

There were still tears hanging on the corners of Lin Yanchen’s eyes, but he still smiled. “I’m kidding, I won’t steal it. Ah Xun, are you slightly happy now?”

Chu Xun felt the sting in his nose, hesitated a bit, then nodded his head.

“I don’t want to see you unhappy.” Lin Yanchen said earnestly, “I’m really leaving now, Ah Xun. I hope that even when you dream of me in your sleep, you’ll be smiling, not crying.”

It was Lin Yanchen who woke Chu Xun up the next morning.

This was also the first time during this period of time that Lin Yanchen got up earlier than Chu Xun.

There were some red veins in Lin Yanchen’s eyes and dark circles below them, but he tidied himself up carefully and neatly. He took a bath, changed into a three piece suit, wore a watch, pinned a diamond collar pin, combed his hair and made a hairstyle. Chu Xun was taken aback.

Lin Yanchen never dressed up like this before in front of Chu Xun, but he was going to send the older away today. He wanted to leave the best impression of himself to the older for the last time, letting the older remember his most handsome side.

Even though he can’t be with Lin Yanchen, at least let him bring some memories and souvenirs back with him.

He took his own sweet time. Washing up, getting dressed, as well as packing took him an hour and a half. Done with packing his luggage, he would have breakfast, then leave after that.

He didn’t know whether it’s because people forget hunger when they are sad, he didn’t feel hungry at all. The food somehow tasted greasy and disgusting to him, making it difficult for him to swallow. He only ate a few mouthfuls before he really couldn’t bring himself to eat anymore.

Lin Yanchen was the first to say it out. “If you can’t eat anymore, then forget it, Ah Xun. It’s time for us to set off or it’ll be too late.”

“…Okay.” Chu Xun put down his utensils.

They sat in the car, no one speaking.

Halfway along the journey, Lin Yanchen suddenly said, “I forgot. That sketch should belong to you… Do you want to take it with you?”

Chu Xun hesitated.

“Ah Xun, you didn’t allow me to take your photo. Let me keep that sketch, please?” Lin Yanchen, asked in a gentle tone, almost pleading.

Chu Xun gave in and nodded.

Lin Yanchen held back his emotions and said politely, “Thank you. …Thank you, Ah Xun.”

It took two hours to get to the airport, but Chu Xun somehow felt that it was both a long and short trip.

After getting out of the car, Lin Yanchen quickly went to get Chu Xun’s luggage. “I’ll help you carry your luggage.”

“No need, no need, thank you.” Chu Xun hurriedly refused.

Lin Yanchen persuaded, “You don’t have to be afraid. I won’t take your luggage away and make you stay. I’m just… I just want to do something for you for the last time, please? Ah Xun, let me carry your luggage for you.”

Chu Xun felt as though there were knife blades stuck his throat, making him unable to make an sound or speak.

Lin Yanchen raised his head and looked at the electronic sign. “Ah Xun, you can boarding your plane now.”

He stood up first and took the luggage. “Let’s go, I’ll walk with you.”

Lin Yanchen stopped in front of the elevator, released his holding on the luggage, breathed out and said with a laugh, “Ah Xun, I’ll send you off here.”

“Okay… Goodbye.” Chu Xun looked at Lin Yanchen as though he was in a trance.

He took over his luggage, entered the elevator and went up, though he couldn’t resist the urge to look back at Lin Yanchen.

Lin Yanchen grinned, beaming and white teeth showing. Just like when they had just known each other, he raised his arm and waved to Chu Xun. “Goodbye, Ah Xun!”

But Chu Xun knew well that after this separation, they would never meet each other again.

He’s dying.

It was only until Chu Xun couldn’t see what was downstairs that he stopped looking back, taking his ticket and passport and following the crowd to the security checkpoint. Near the New Year, there were a lot of people flying off. He queued for five or six minutes before it was finally his turn. But at this moment, the scene of Lin Yanchen smiling and saying goodbye to him earlier on floated in his mind, showing no signs of disappearing at all.

Someone gave him a push.

“Mister… Mister?”

He snapped out of his thoughts and realised the people around him were looking at him strangely.

He suddenly felt a certain impulse surging in his heart. “I’m not boarding the plane now.”

He took his luggage, moved his numbed legs, and walked back. He walked faster and faster, then started jogging before it turned into him taking big strides.

Chu Xun went back to the escalator, looked down and saw Lin Yanchen at a glance.

He wanted to see Lin Yanchen one more time, just one more time.

Lin Yanchen was still standing at where he sent Chu Xun off, not even moving a single bit. Except that the smile on his face had disappeared, replaced by a face full of tears.

Seeing that, Chu Xun couldn’t hold back his tears, letting them escape his eyes. Earlier on when Lin Yanchen begged him, he could cruelly ignore it, suppressing his feelings during countless much more emotional moments. Yet, during such an insignificant time, just after taking one more glance at Lin Yanchen… Lin Yanchen didn’t even notice that he was still feeling sad over here, but he suddenly couldn’t hold back his emotions.

He dragged his luggage and stepped onto the escalator going down. After a few steps, he found dragging his luggage too troublesome and threw it aside, running straight towards Lin Yanchen. The mixed feelings he had been suppressing in his heart was transmitted through his shout. “Lin Yanchen!”

Lin Yanchen was initially crying foolishly, so hearing the familiar shout coming from above, he looked up with teary eyes, surprised to see Chu Xun running towards him.

He couldn’t believe it, even thinking that he was hallucinating.

There were still four steps left but as Chu Xun was too anxious, he accidentally tripped and fell downwards.

Lin Yanchen reached out to catch Chu Xun, nicely bringing the older into his arms. The older literally bumped into his arms, making him take a few steps back.

Chu Xun hugged Lin Yanchen tightly, burying his face in the younger’s shoulder and saying with a choked voice, “Xiao Lin, I can’t bear to leave you.”

Lin Yanchen sobbed, then he hugged Chu Xun tighter and said, “I can’t bear to leave you either… Ah Xun. I really like you.”
